The Salik System
The Salik System was inaugurated in July 2007 and is managed by the Road Transportation Authority in Dubai. It was designed to decrease and regulate urban traffic flow, which has increased substantially in recent years due to the economic boom and the influx of tourists. It operates by an electronic strip attached to the windshield. The revenues collected are used to improve roads and bridges.
